Admissions criteria
Admission is considered in line with the school’s values, available space and the learner’s readiness for placement.
Foundational criteria
- Silver Creek School does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race or ethnic origin.
- At least one parent must be of the Christian faith and actively involved in the Christian community.
Placement and documentation
- Placement is subject to available space. Class numbers should remain at a maximum of 15 learners where possible.
- Parents must provide official records from the learner’s previous school, including the latest reports, transfer letter and previous year’s marks.
- A confidential report may be requested from the learner’s previous school.
- A financial status report will be requested. Any outstanding fees at the previous school must be settled before the application is considered.
Assessment and disclosure
- An assessment by an educational psychologist may be required.
- Parents must disclose relevant information or reports that may affect the learner’s education.
- The learner must be within two years of the age range for the grade for which admission is requested.
- An academic readiness assessment or entry exam will be administered by the school at a time specified by the administration department.
School agreements
- Parents must sign the Parents’ Commitment Declaration, Student Contract, Application, General Indemnity and Medication Consent forms.
- Parents and learners must be willing to comply with the conditions contained in these documents.
Grades 8–12
High School application process
High School placement is subject to a review by Switched On Education, our curriculum supplier.
Report submission
- Parents must submit the learner’s latest official school report for the grade in which admission is requested.
- Silver Creek School submits the report to Switched On Education for review and placement approval.
- The school will communicate the outcome once the review has been completed.
Grade placement and credits
- Grade 8 applications are approved for entry into the Switched On curriculum, subject to the school’s general admissions requirements and available space.
- Applications for Grades 9–12 require a more detailed review of the learner’s academic record.
- Learners must have earned the minimum credits required to continue with the Switched On curriculum in the requested grade.
- Switched On Education may approve or decline the requested placement based on the learner’s report and available credits.
Providing the required information does not guarantee placement. Applications may be declined where relevant information has not been disclosed or where the school cannot appropriately meet the learner’s needs.
